BY
Charles J. Burstone
Forces Decoulpling
1st Principles
Burstone introduced his Segmented Arch Technique in 1962 to move independent teeth segments with spring-loaded elements. This approach constitutes the framework of modern biomechanics that relate occlusion response to different types of tooth movement.
A well-known biomechanical effect is the posterior tipping-anterior intrusion relation.
Robert M. Ricketts
Treatment Planning
Predecessor
Ricketts formalised the concept of Bioprogressive Therapy that was the predecessor to modern treatment plan optimization. This approach describes how to decompose teeth movements to treat squeletal relationships, alignement and root positions derived from all the possible interactions that can be modeled.
Zia Chishti & Kelsey Wirth
Clear Aligners
At Scale
Chishti partnered with Kelsey Wirth and technical co-founders, Apostolos Lerios and Brian Freyburger to transform the orthodontic industry forever: clear aligner treatment at scale, with Invisalign. They scaled the first dental service organization with automated digital manufacturing workflow. Every orthodontic aligner company operating today descends directly from what they built.
WE REINVENT
How we Decouple
Forces
At Inteeth, we extend Burstone’s principle further with a new patented concept. We decouple neighboring teeth using flexible connectors and a rigid archbase to redistribute all forces across the entire dental arch. This way, InTeeth device is an ideal system, biomechanicaly speaking.
How we Enhance Treatment Plans
At InTeeth, we extend this logic through Sigma™, to model the full occlusal plane response using a rheological framework treating the dental arch as a viscoelastic system
How we Design and Manufacture
At InTeeth, we capitalize on practice digitalization to build on an aligner-compatible workflow. We manufacture InLiners using advanced mesh processing algorithm encoding biomechanical function, which is a paradigm shift in biomechanics and device manufacturing.
Long Story Short
“ The journey began 15 years ago with my father, Antoine, an orthodontist driven by a vision of truly invisible aligners with new biomechanical concept. His patented idea wasn’t technically feasible at the time, but together with Francois we made it possible building a unique technology that defines our DNA: Three founders with one mission that is to bring better care and deeper confidence to every patient’s journey.
